11/29/2008 My journey towards ACCA membership3 years ago, I was wondering whether should I take up pharmacy or chemical engineering or accountancy. I love Chemistry and Maths, and I am good in Accounts too - I guess it was all in the family (btw, my dad is an accountant by profession) As I was struggling to make my decision - my interest in Science? or a better path with Accounting (that's was most ppl think la)?, I found out that I am selected for the National Service. Yes, I cried. Not that I don't want to go, but it will definitely affect my study plans! Somehow we found this little college in Bangsar that offers Certified Accounting Technician course in 6 months! That's half of the normal length! With this, we thought the best option is for me to start studying w/o waiting for SPM results, graduate in half a year and defer my NS to the 3rd batch. And continue with ACCA afterwards. Yeah, so basically that's how I ended up choosing ACCA . Fast forward, I finished my CAT in 6 months, went NS, rest for 2 months, found a great job and started working while studying part time for 2 years. By June 2008, I graduated. Finally. Looking back I am glad that I am blessed to have a great father who gives my excellent advice - which made me who I am today. Life is good - good job, great pay, wonderful holidays and yes, I am one of youngest ACCA grad to become a member (ACCA membership requires 3 years working experience) immediately! Muahahahaha.... and 3 weeks ago, it was my Convocation@ Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre. I guess my parents must be very happy that day. I hope I have made them proud. My cousins gave the flowers I'm holding in the above picture. There's a story behind it. My sis can't make to it the graduation ceremony that day but she wanted to buy me a bouquet of flowers. The problem is I am VERY choosy when comes to flowers - it must be the type I like, the colour matching etc etc, and I want to choose them myself!! Now, the convo is on Saturday which means we must get the flowers from Petaling Street on Friday. Since I'm working near PS, why not buying the flowers myself. So you know the problem now? I can't be buying flowers for myself right? Then, my cousin sis called my mum saying she has order flowers for me.In Labis, such flowers are considered special order. How lovely of her!! and I am so touched! Alright, move on....
Next up, beginning January 2009... CFA!! 8/18/2008 I am an ACCA graduate!!!Finally!!
Thank God for your blessing. Thanks mum and dad for your encouragement and guidance. Thank you everyone who supported me.
Yes! I've made it!! and I shall continue my journey..
2/18/2008 Exam results1/6/2008 Long long day....I was thinking what topic should i write in my blog on Friday night, life has been so boring recently... Working till 8 pm everyday - back home eat & sleep - wake up at 6 am and back to work again... So i was hoping something special can happen for me to blog about it...
I checked my class timetable on Friday on realised the class next day starts at 10.30 a.m. - how lucky i am to realise it last minute coz i have been thinking 1.00 p.m. all these while.... Saturday morning i got up at 9.15 a.m. and rushed all my way to the college. Upon entering the car park - "hmm, it's so empty!! that's weird... where's everyone?" Initially i thought they have cancelled the class without informing me. A quick check on my timetable shows 1 p.m. - i have mistaken it for next week's class!!
For the 1st time in history, i'm early for class for more than 2 hours...it's so unlike me - who always rush for classes, not entering the lecture theater until the very last minutes - just in time before the lecturer gets in... Decided to do some reading while having breakfast to fill up my time rather than loitering around or spending another RM 1.60 toll to drive back home. Unbelivable - i read the full News Strait Times in detail - a record breaking achievement!!
After spending 3 1/2 hours in college, the class finally commenced at 2 p.m.... thank God the legendary Ms Menon (famous as being the 'powerful' lecturer in Sunway) turned out to be quite a nice person... but i really couldn't stand sitting on a wooden bench for more than 8 hours learning financial standards - and this will last for another 6 months!!!
Hmm... i better get used to the long hours again.. and it's a good way to slim down right??
12/12/2007 Goodbye to P1 & P3Finally... 12 December! I have been waiting for today for the past 2 weeks!
Although i managed to get through the 2 papers, honestly i don't really feel as happy & excited as expected. In fact, there's this feeling of emptiness in me now. I guess i did not prepare will for this exam, especially for P3 Business Analysis. Going through the exam sucks! I don't understand what is the question requirement and what am i suppose to answer! Throughout the 3 hour, i was struggling to complete the paper, wondering when it's times up
Well, it's over and there's nothing i could to do to change the situation. Nvm, just gonna pray i'll be able to pass and keep telling myself to study harder next time!May God bless me...
Byebye my books. I won't miss you. Have fun joining the rest in the cupboard! The first thing i did when i reach home today is to clear my study table. Yay, time to keep the books away and hope that i wont have to see them again. Hehe, it will be 1 whole month of "no classes", "no assignment" and "no books"! Gonna start planning what to do during weekends and holidays
15/12 Sat Date with sis to watch Enchanted, shopping in MidValley
19/12 Wed BBQ party at home
21/12 Fri Winter Soltice festival - makan-makan with family
22/12 Sat Leave KL to Singpore for shopping spree (i love Xmas in S'pore!!)
More.. Karaoke, movies, yum cha sessions and more shopping coming soon..
Wahaha, i can't wait! I can't wait!
Now, it's back to the same old question i used to ask every morning - "Yuet Leng, what should i wear to office today?"
