4/26/2009 I Have Moved!Chiang, chiang, chiang, chiang! I’m proudly announcing the greatest news of my blogging career - I HAVE MOVED TO MY NEW BLOG (yup, finally) Yay! After talking about it for ages, learning how to get a domain and hosting, some crappy HTML & CSS @#$%^* language. Finally I’ve got it done! La La La (happy). I’ll talk about the journey of getting this done in my new blog k? So ladies & gentlemen, don’t forget update your links if you have included me in your blogroll or saved as favourite or subscribe to my RSS feed! note: this is the last update for sugarspice87.spaces.live.com. bye bye~ 3/18/2009 A New Site Under ConstructionShort update cause I’m too lazy and lack of inspiration to blog. Decided to give all those 2008 outstanding posts a pass and start fresh new. Oh, maybe I’ll blog when I’m back from Redang next week. *smiles happily. I’m getting a new domain and hosting for my blog soon (*fingers crossed, the plan was in Jan09, go ahead and figure out yourself what do I mean by SOON here :P) because stupid window live space can’t load my pictures, hmph! That means new template too, la la la~~ And erm, my new windows live messenger and windows live writer is damn cool lar… can set theme colour and auto water-mark every picture! yay, no more painfully water-marking every single picture! *wonders the writer will work with the new blog platform anot, fingers crossed again… So stay tune for my new blog while enjoying a picture of me and the girls. Nah, take that! 2/18/2009 So What's The Big Deal?I bet you have heard about the recent Big Hu-Ha in the Malaysia Political scene. I can't help but to feel disgusted with all these STUPID and inhumane tactics by some parties just to get rid of someone and to move on with their political agenda. Ok, ok.. I am not trying comment on this news, well there are 10,000 times better written articles and blogs covering this topic anyway, my objective to highlight how stupid and brainless Malaysia politicians could be. Was following the Evening Edition every night and was freaking pissed off with the comments made by 'someone'. It made me had high blood pressure - it's like all my blood went shooting up to my brain and my temperature went up 100 degree higher. That 'someone' is no other than our FORMER Selangor Menteri Besar. Yes, you read it right - the FORMER Selangor MB, the guy that once headed the government of one of Malaysia most developed state, the guy where tenth thousands of rakyat voted for, the guy who is in the run for UMNO Youth Chief position. KLANG: Selangor Opposition chief and former Mentri Besar XXX (I have removed the name so that my blog does not generate unnecessary traffic by ppl google search his name) has called for Pakatan Rakyat state executive councillor 'Eli' Wong to resign on moral grounds. ---> Has everyone forgotten? She is the VICTIM in this damn case! He said Malaysians were not ready to accept leaders who were embroiled in scandals. (It was quoted by Evening Edition that he even said Eli should look after Dr Chua as a role model as he offered resignation after his scandal surfaced) --> Omg, how can you relate this case to Dr Chua's? His is SCANDAL - that's a married man having sex with a woman other than his wife in a hotel! Eli's is just her sleeping half-naked alone! Damn, can't they differentiate? “This is a moral issue and Malaysians cannot accept leaders with moral issues and so she must vacate her State Assembly seat." Kuala Kubu Baru MCA assemblyman Wong Koon Mun said that a wrong was a wrong. The picture was obviously taken by someone who had access to her bedroom. “Who is that person? And if it’s her boyfriend as rumoured, it is morally wrong for a single woman to allow a man access to her room,” he said. --> I don't see anything wrong here, don't tell me he has not entered his gfs' roon before! what is so immoral here? She's just sleeping naked alone, well everyone has their own preference in private life. even if the picture shows her having sex also nothing wrong lor, she's SINGLE lor! omg, how many times I need to repeat this??!! oh, you know what - I think these gentlemen must have their clothes on when they bathe I guess! Argh! And this is what said after Eli resigned... “It’s the right thing to do,” said Dr Mohd Khir. --> Bugger!! “It’s good that there is a trend in Malaysia now where embattled elected representatives readily resign from their posts,” he said.--> Oh pls, with such tactics, she is FORCED to leave! and come one, representatives who are readily resign? the rakyat wants a rep who service the community not someone who has 'resign' in his/her mind all the time! Gosh, I really can't believe what I've read and hear these few days. They are suppose to be the people's representative. yet they can give such pointless and plain stupid comments. Damn. Best part? Wikipedia states MB XXX holds a Bachelor of Dental Surgery and was a dentist by profession and he intend to reopen his dental clinic after loosing Selangor! That's more STUPID. argh.. why do I bother wiki-searching him anyway?! I think the EC should consider some sort of IQ/EQ test before a candidate is qualify to be a MP or ADUN. I'm giving up hopes. 2/16/2009 How free can you be in the office?Ok. I am dead bored. Guess what did I do in office today? Nothing.
Spend 1 hour completing my project flow chart, 20 mins on bank recon and REPO placement, 30 mins filing + tidying my stuffs.
And the balance 6 hours 10 mins of working hours? Doing absolutely N.O.T.H.I.N.G.! oh.. besides facebooking, reading endless blogs, wiki search almost-every-single-topic-I-think-interesting, checking my mails n-time, munching FudgeShoppe Grasshopper Chocolate Fudge Mint Cookies (yumyum heavenly!), of course.
I wish I could have all these free time at home so that I can blog about my Bangkok trip more often.
Now I wanted more work. or maybe my laptop so that I can blog with Windows Live Writer but not this web version. damn.
Enough crapping. at least I wasted another 10 mins drafting this post. Haha! 1/28/2009 Sawadeekha - The Thais are the nicest people!I think the Thais are most friendly people on Mentioned a few times in my previous posts about how great my trip was, let me tell you this - My host during my recent trip to Bangkok are the nicest people on earth lor.. They are so so so x1000 nice ok?!
Dad went for a business trip and the rest of us decided to tag along (save on the accommodation). Tickets booked and we forwarded our flight details to our host to help us to book 2 hotels room (one under dad's business account, another personal lar). And being the super nice host they are, they insist on getting us 3 rooms! After some communication, settled on 2 rooms. After working on one fine Wednesday, we boarded a 8.30 p.m. flight to Bangkok. La la la.. 2.5 hours passed by and we landed at Suvarnabhumi Airport. The airport is damn nice lor.. I think is even nicer than KLIA. Not only they have later architecture design than KLIA, they also have EVERY SINGLE BRANDED DESIGNER LABEL in the departure hall, each with CONCEPT STORE! Seriously I can't name a brand that is not found in Suvarnabhumi Airport!
As soon as we picked up our luggage from the super efficient luggage belt (is this what it's called? watever, you get what I mean right?), dad received a call from our hosts that they are waiting for us already. Super paiseh lor, it was 12 midnight local time when we landed. They actually picked us up at 12 midnight, plus that's after work! Then the 2 gentlemen, Um & Mu carried our bags to the car. Not ordinary car ok, it's a super luxurious 11 seater (11 person can sit very very comfortably) VIP van!!!
We checked into Grand Diamond hotel in Pratunam Area...(why Pratunam, because is a stone throw distance from their office and in the heart of Bangkok shopping district!!) How thoughtful of them!! To our surprise, they booked for us JUNIOR SUITE. TWO JUNIOR SUITE that is! and they paid for both rooms!
The next day, our host brought us to the so-called-most-famous-chinese-restaurant in Bangkok for dinner. Indeed it is the most famous, there was so many people queuing outside. But for us, hahaha, we're VIP mar so they ushered us to a special room (either they booked earlier or they came earlier to queue) and was immediately served with 20 over dishes! Throughout the entire trip, we were ferried around with super luxurious VIP van, dined in super nice restaurant with exceptionally great food, teman us to Chatuchak Weekend Market. They even treat us to the Largest Aquarium in Southeast Asia! - all in separate posts. Our hosts are all the management staffs in the company and yet they have spent time teman us here and there, spoilt us with the tremendous Thai Hospitality. Needless to say, the hospitality they provided is the BEST I would say!! Thank you so much everyone!! 1/21/2009 EmoHmm.. received the long awaited letter. Thankful for that I have achieved the max they can provide.
On the other hand, I'm quite disappointed with the outcome. It has been 3 years and I'm still waiting. Can someone explain why?
Sigh. It's my emo day, I need someone to talk to. 1/15/2009 Let's go for a drink1/10/2009 Article: Wisdom from Lee Kuan Yew's DaughterA piece of perfectly written article for sharing. Food for thought. There's no end to wanting - after the Ferrari and Berkin bag, what's next? *********************************************************************** By Lee Wei Ling In 2007, in an end-of-year message to the staff of the National Neuroscience Institute, I wrote: 'Whilst boom time in the public sector is never as booming as in the private sector, let us not forget that boom time is eventually followed by slump time. Slump time in the public sector is alwaysless painful compared to the private sector.' Slump time has arrived with a bang. While I worry about the poorer Singaporeans who will be hit hard, perhaps this recession has come at an opportune time for many of us. It will give us an incentive to reconsider our priorities in life. Decades of the good life have made us soft. The wealthy especially, but also the middle class in Singapore, have had it so good for so long, what they once considered luxuries, they now think of as necessities. A mobile phone, for instance, is now a statement about who you are, not just a piece of equipment for communication. Hence many people buy the latest model though their existing mobile phones are still in perfect working order. A Mercedes-Benz is no longer adequate as a status symbol. For millionaires who wish to show the world they have taste, a Ferrari or a Porsche is deemed more appropriate. The same attitude influences the choice of attire and accessories. I still find it hard to believe that there are people carrying handbags that cost more than thrice the monthly income of a bus driver, and many more times that of the foreign worker labouring in the hot sun, risking his life to construct luxury condominiums he will never have a chance to live in. The media encourages and amplifies this ostentatious consumption. Perhaps it is good to encourage people to spend more because this will prevent the recession from getting worse. I am not an economist, but wasn't that the root cause of the current crisis -Americans spending more than they could afford to? I am not a particularly spiritual person. I don't believe in the supernatural and I don't think I have a soul that will survive my death. But as I view the crass materialism around me, I am reminded of what my mother once told me: 'Suffering and deprivation is good for the soul.'My family is not poor, but we have been brought up to be frugal. My parents and I live in the same house that my paternal grandparents and theirchildren moved into after World War II in 1945. It is a big house by today's standards, but it is simple - in fact, almost to the point of being shabby. Those who see it for the first time are astonished that Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew's home is so humble. But it is a comfortable house, a home we have got used to. Though it does look shabby compared to the new mansions on our street, we are not bothered by the comparison. Most of the world and much of Singapore will lament the economic downturn. We have been told to tighten our belts. There will undoubtedly be suffering, which we must try our best to ameliorate. But I personally think the hard times will hold a timely lesson for many Singaporeans, especially those born after 1970 who have never lived through difficult times. No matter how poor you are in Singapore, the authorities and social groups do try to ensure you have shelter and food. Nobody starves in Singapore. Many of those who are currently living in mansions and enjoying a luxurious lifestyle will probably still be able to do so, even if they might have to downgrade from wines costing $20,000 a bottle to $10,000 a bottle. They would hardly notice the difference. Being wealthy is not a sin. It cannot be in a capitalist market economy. Enjoying the fruits of one's own labour is one's prerogative and I have no right to chastise those who choose to live luxuriously. But if one is blinded by materialism, there would be no end to wanting and hankering. After the Ferrari, what next? An Aston Martin? After the Hermes Birkin handbag, what can one upgrade to? Neither an Aston Martin nor an Hermes Birkin can make us truly happy or contented. They are like dust, a fog obscuring the true meaning of life, and can be blown away in the twinkling of an eye. When the end approaches and we look back on our lives, will we regret the latest mobile phone or luxury car that we did not acquire? Or would we prefer to die at peace with ourselves, knowing that we have lived lives filled with love, friendship and goodwill, that we have helped some of our fellow voyagers along the way and that we have tried our best to leave this world a slightly better place than how we found it? We know which is the correct choice - and it is within our power to make that choice. In this new year, burdened as it is with the problems of the year that has just ended, let us again try to choose wisely. To a considerable degree, our happiness is within our own control, and we should not follow the herd blindly. *The writer is director of the National Neuroscience Institute. * 1/7/2009 OMG, my 1st post in 2009Aww.. My cousin Kelvin is one the nicest guy ever. He's ever loving towards his wife & his son. He treats us cousins greatly. We are not closed but I love talking to him. His advices, his smiles, his humour, and his passion in cooking. Our grandparents love him very much. Among the 20 odds grandchildren they have, Kelvin is the one they sayang most. Grandpa, grandma, if you hear this - why bring him along? Is not fair. Now, he is with you, please take good care of him and his family here. It is sad that he is gone -gone, just like that, so young. A caring husband, a loving father, a hsiao-shun son, a passionate cook, a great soul. Brother Kelvin, may you rest in peace. p/s: He met an accident while riding on his motorcycle, not much injury but declared brain dead. My dear friends, please wear a helmet and FASTEN it. If you could, drive a car instead. Don't let those who love you cry for you. 12/1/2008 8 perfumes. 7 graduation bears. 6 necklaces/bracelets. 5 boxes of chocolate. 4 cakes. 3 celebrations. 2 watches. 1 birthday. Lots of Love. That sums up my 21st Birthday :) Ok, due to the fact that I am super busy + lazy to blog. I just gonna post up my birthday pictures here... Birthday Celebration #1
Birthday celebration #2
Birthday celebration #3 Argghh.. I no longer can avoid those credit card people by saying "I haven't reach 21 oo, sorry! (with innocent face)" Hehe ;) 11/29/2008 My journey towards ACCA membership3 years ago, I was wondering whether should I take up pharmacy or chemical engineering or accountancy. I love Chemistry and Maths, and I am good in Accounts too - I guess it was all in the family (btw, my dad is an accountant by profession) As I was struggling to make my decision - my interest in Science? or a better path with Accounting (that's was most ppl think la)?, I found out that I am selected for the National Service. Yes, I cried. Not that I don't want to go, but it will definitely affect my study plans! Somehow we found this little college in Bangsar that offers Certified Accounting Technician course in 6 months! That's half of the normal length! With this, we thought the best option is for me to start studying w/o waiting for SPM results, graduate in half a year and defer my NS to the 3rd batch. And continue with ACCA afterwards. Yeah, so basically that's how I ended up choosing ACCA . Fast forward, I finished my CAT in 6 months, went NS, rest for 2 months, found a great job and started working while studying part time for 2 years. By June 2008, I graduated. Finally. Looking back I am glad that I am blessed to have a great father who gives my excellent advice - which made me who I am today. Life is good - good job, great pay, wonderful holidays and yes, I am one of youngest ACCA grad to become a member (ACCA membership requires 3 years working experience) immediately! Muahahahaha.... and 3 weeks ago, it was my Convocation@ Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre. I guess my parents must be very happy that day. I hope I have made them proud. My cousins gave the flowers I'm holding in the above picture. There's a story behind it. My sis can't make to it the graduation ceremony that day but she wanted to buy me a bouquet of flowers. The problem is I am VERY choosy when comes to flowers - it must be the type I like, the colour matching etc etc, and I want to choose them myself!! Now, the convo is on Saturday which means we must get the flowers from Petaling Street on Friday. Since I'm working near PS, why not buying the flowers myself. So you know the problem now? I can't be buying flowers for myself right? Then, my cousin sis called my mum saying she has order flowers for me.In Labis, such flowers are considered special order. How lovely of her!! and I am so touched! Alright, move on....
Next up, beginning January 2009... CFA!! 11/18/2008 Bangkok, Here I Come!!11/14/2008 Quickie PostGosh.. I look at my previous post and it was dated 2nd Nov. That means 12 whole days, I mean 12 freaking days of no blogging!
Life has been pretty exciting lately, ahem I should say too exciting. I just had a great birthday party last weekend, and recovering from the post mortem. Next, I'm flying to Bangkok in 5 days time. Planning & booking tickets to Aussie, because of the MAS global sale thingy. Then, a 2-days accountant conference. Then, annual dinner. Then, training in Singapore.
*Gasp. Gasp.*
On top of all these, I have 2 projects running in office (which I'm in-charged or co-in charged). Month end accounts to prepare. Auditors to layan. Tonnes of reports (ok, I might be exaggerating lar, but I mean A LOT of reports) to finish. Phew, I am running out of breath!
Btw, I have uploaded my graduation & birthday pics. Waiting for the right time & right mood to blog about it.
Alright, guess that's all for now. Don't want to be caught blogging from office :P
Till then, Tada~~
p/s: realised that I wrote about how busy I am in 3 posts in a row, oppss~~ 11/2/2008 Biological Defences Break DownHave been coughing and flu on and off for 2 weeks. At one moment I thought I have fully recovered, the next I am coughing my lungs out. Guess my immunity system wasn't as good as my younger days already. Haha! Maybe it's time to visit the doctor. Oh, I'm the not the doctor person, Nevermind if you don't get it. Me too gave up Biology after SPM. ********************************************************************************************** There has been a Chocolate craze in office. Continuous chocolate supply (sponsored by various colleagues, due to travelling and er, price drop after melamine scare?) has been piling up our discussion table near me. Chocolate bars, chocolate chips, chocolate cookies, dark chocolate, milk chocolate, white chocolates, chocolate nougats - name it you'll get it. And the biggest victim is me! Everytime I turn around, I see chocolates, then I eat the chocolates! Melamine? Fear not. I heard the news says - an adult must eat 10 times the ordinary contaminated products he/she usually does everyday, for 1-2 years to cause fatal kidney stones. But I am worry of the headaches I am getting from chocolate over-dosed! *********************************************************************************************** You know what is the latest Telco marketing gimmick? Apparently, U Mobile is giving out FREE SIM cards to the public! They are giving out 5 SIM cards per person at some campuses.
When my sis brought back the thing, we are like so excited. U mobile friends & family get to call each other for free wor! Does that mean we get another few *FREE* SIM cards then we can call for free? Does the starter pack come with pre loaded value? Cool...
After opening up, we realised we have to register the SIM card at U counter - which we intend to! U mobile ppl are damn good weh - imagine everyone like us, register for play play, the top up for play play, then start calling our U mobile friends for free for play play, which our friends need to get U mobile line as well. Viola! more & more ppl using U mobile, steals Maxis & Digi's market shares! I seriously think those ppl working there is damn creative. Excellent marketing and advertising campaign! "Boss, nak teh tarik satu" "Bolehh!" "Nak setengah gelas" "Tak Bolehhhh!" "Kenapeeee?" Hahahahah... the teh tarik advert is freaking cool! ******************************************************************************************************** PMS time in office. Performance Management System that is. Aka Total Performance Management (TPM), can't they just call it Appraisal? I wonder this TPM thingy ever achieves it objectives or not, I think we are more concern on the bonus part. What do you expect? We did our mid year review in mid Oct then the final review 2 weeks after?! Nonsense. Hmm, but I am pretty happy with my scores this year. Just hope that my ultimate boss does not mark me down WITHOUT informing me like last year, I swear I will fire him kau-kau! Haha... Btw, I am quite happy with my new role - in charge of the treasury & investments, less clerical work. :) Hope it gets better and er... PROMOTION pls! ******************************************************************************************************* Busy with life - weddings, parties, annual dinners non stop till end of December. I know, damn happening rite? Besides, I've got some travelling to do, both business and leisure. According to MBTI test, I am a half Perceiving (P) & half J (Judgemental) person. Judging person like "to have things settles" while a perceiving person prefers to do thing according to sense/intuition. Seriously, this JP behaviour in me is giving me lots of problem. I need to have a itinerary when I travel, I need to know what to see, what to do, how to go, what to expect etc etc, but not a detailed one as I need flexibility and discovery (the P part)! So because of this, I have been reading many travel guides of many countries and a hell lot of information to digest. It's not funny! Trying my best to do an itinerary to make the best out if the little time. Travel = Shopping = Money! With all the events going on, I am trying hard to stretch my money. ************************************************************************************************************* Before I end, look what I've discover what this little things can do!
Check this out! It's AMAZING! 10/27/2008 A Wedding10/23/2008 Preparation Mode"Have you check the menu?" Too many events - Cousin's wedding, graduation, dinners, birthdays, trips etc etc etc, too many things to prepare.. Haha.. I wonder how things will be if I decide to get married! 10/19/2008 Sushi Zanmai, The GardensOk, I am a big fan of Japanese food and I enjoy quality Japanese food. Our Japanese food adventure began with the ever humble and relatively cheap Sushi King. In fact, it was still very expensive for us because we were only schooling that time. Nowadays, Sushi King is a big no-no, just a another McD equivalent sushi chain. Unless they have the RM2 per plate promotion thingy. Then, Jogoya came into the picture, thinking of Jogoya will makes me loose my mind. Jogoya serves seriously hell lot of food and to make our money worthwhile we will definitely stuff ourselves to max. Bad for health. And my vote for the best Japanese food goes to Ikateru @ KL Hilton. It's just too yummy-licious and irresistible, and no words could describe it. One bad thing though, after one decent & satisfying meal there, it takes me 3-4 months salary to recover my food budget. Finally, I found my way to strike a balance to fulfil my hunger for affordable and quality Japanese food - no other than Sushi Zanmai. It's
We flipped through the menu that was full with pictures (good for ppl like me who can't order w/o pictures) and detailed narration of the food available. Then you know lar, we ordered a feast.
